IMD issued heavy rainfall alert in these states till July 19

IMD issued heavy Rainfall: Heavy rainfall lashed several parts of the country on Friday night. According to the latest data by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), in the south interior Karnataka, Kodagu district recorded (23 cm) of rainfall, in coastal Karnataka districts like Udupi recorded (18cm) of rainfall, Kannada (18 cm), and Uppinangadi (17 cm) of rainfall, respectively on 7 July.

Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely to continue over the region during 1st half of the week & decrease thereafter in southern states. Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely to continue over Gujarat state during the week; and over Konkan & Goa and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during 1st half of the week.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is also very likely over Uttarakhand during the week. Light/moderate fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over the region during 1st half of the week in central India. In northeast India, Fairly widespread to widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur during the week.

In Tamil Nadu, an avalanche occurred in the Nilgiris region after 14 cm of rainfall was recorded yesterday. The other region’s heavy rainfall recorded in the state are-Valparai in Coimbatore district (11 cm); Harrison Malayalam Ltd, and Worth Estate in Nilgiris region (10 cm).

Kerala’s Taliraparamba of Kannur district recorded 10 cm of rainfall, at Konkan and Goa, Ratnagiri district recorded 14 cm of rainfall, and Raigad 13 cm of rainfall. Jalpaiguri and Darjeeling reported 14 cm of rainfall yesterday. The IMD has issued yellow alerts in the Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragode districts of Kerala for the next 4-5 days.
