Several parts of India are likely to receive heavy rainfall in the next few days. Heavy Rainfall alert in these states for next 2 days. Meanwhile, subdued rainfall over southern parts of the Peninsula is likely to continue during the next five days. The western end of the monsoon trough at mean sea level runs along the foothills of the Himalayas and its eastern end is likely to shift south of its normal position from Saturday.
Heavy Rainfall alert is predicted over eastern and central parts of the country. “Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Odisha on 19th, 20th & 23rd; West Bengal & Sikkim on 19th; Jharkhand and Telangana on 19th & 20th; Chhattisgarh and East Madhya Pradesh during 19t-21st,” the IMD said.
Heavy Rainfall alert West Madhya Pradesh is expected to receive heavy showers till August 22. Meanwhile, western parts of India are likely to receive rainfall over the next few days. Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms is predicted over Konkan and Goa from August 20 to 22, over east Rajasthan till August 23, over east Rajasthan on august 22 and 23 and over Madhya Maharashtra on August 22.
Similar weather conditions are likely to prevail over Gujarat and Saurashtra and Kutch Till August 23. Isolated/scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall alert likely over Odisha, Jharkhand and Vidarbha on August 20, over east Madhya Pradesh, east Rajasthan, Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra. The Gujarat region is expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on August 21 and 22.
“Isolated extremely heavy rainfall alert also likely over north Odisha, southwest Gangetic West Bengal and southeast Jharkhand on 19th; north Chhattisgarh & East Madhya Pradesh on 20th and over West Madhya Pradesh on 21st and East Rajasthan on 22nd August, 2022,” the weather agency said. Rainfall is also predicted over the Northwestern Himalayas and neighbouring plains.

Scattered/Fairly widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm/lightning very likely over north Haryana & Chandigarh; East Uttar Pradesh on 19th & 20th and West Uttar Pradesh on 20th August, 2022,” the MeT Department said in its weather bulletin.
