Good news for govt employees: 7th pay Commission to be implemented in November

After the increase in the gratuity allowance of the central government employees, the state government has come forward to give good news to the state government employees as well. Preparations are underway to implement the recommendations of the 7th pay Commission in November.

The Karnataka government is planning to implement the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission for its employees from November itself, after the Central and other state governments have increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) for employees by 4%.

Karnataka State Home Minister G. Parameshwar informed that the pay Commission constituted in November 2022 is expected to submit its recommendations within the next month. He said that the state government will take appropriate decision regarding its implementation.

Parameshwar also informed that the Seventh Pay Commission has been told to submit its recommendations in November. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also given information that he has promised to take appropriate decisions to implement the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission. Also, government employees need not fear.

He promised to implement it immediately. Meanwhile, State Government Employees Union President C.S. Shadakshar Shadakshari urged the minister that the recommendations of the 7th pay Commission should be implemented as soon as possible.

Also, the government employees’ union has demanded the state government to increase the bereavement allowance by 23%. As promised, the state government is committed to implementing the Old Pension System (OPS) by discontinuing the New Pension System (NPS). He said that a committee will be formed in this regard and necessary decisions will be taken based on its report.

Increase in Dearness allowance of central government employees:

The Union Cabinet has approved to increase the gratuity allowance of Central Government employees by 4% on October 18. Through this, the gratuity allowance of central government employees has increased from 42 percent to 46 percent. This decision will help the government employees and pensioners.

With the approval of the central government, 47 lakh central government employees and 68 lakh pensioners will be helped. The salary of the employees will increase from the month of November due to the increase of 4 percent in severance allowance.

For example, if the minimum basic pay is fixed at Rs 18,000, the current 42 per cent will get Rs 7,500 per month under the minimum allowance. Now, with an increase of 4 per cent, the gratuity has increased to 46 per cent. This will increase the monthly salary to Rs 8,280.
