Cyclone Mandous: heavy rainfall; declared holiday for schools in these districts

Due to the impact of Mandous Cyclone, Tamil Nadu Rains have left people reeling. Due to the heavy rainfall for the last few days, the roads are flooded and the water has entered the low-lying areas. Cyclone Mandous: heavy rainfall; declared holiday for schools in these districts.

Landslides have occurred in many places and hundreds of trees have been uprooted. A holiday has been declared for schools today as there are indications of heavy rainfall in many parts of Tamil Nadu. Apart from Kancheepuram district, schools in some areas including Thiruvallur and Uthukottai taluks have been declared holiday today.

All schools in Thiruvallur and Uthukottai taluks have been closed today as Cyclone Mandaus has already crossed the coast at Mamallapuram. The India Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall till December 15 as a cyclonic circulation and low pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal today.

Due to this, many schools in Tamil Nadu are expected to remain closed till December 15. Schools in Chennai have been advised to remain closed today due to heavy rains caused by Cyclone Mandaus. Chennai and several parts of Tamil Nadu received heavy rains yesterday.

Not only Kancheepuram district but many areas including Thiruvallur and Uthukottai taluks have declared holiday for schools today. Apart from directing closure of schools, fishermen have been warned not to venture along and off the southeast and adjacent east-central Arabian Sea and the Kerala-Karnataka coast.
