Cyclone Biparjoy: IMD issued heavy Rainfall Alert in these states

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday forecasted the weather condition in the country that is likely to prevail in the upcoming days. According to the weather department, parts of eastern and central India will continue to experience heat wave to severe heat wave conditions in next four to five days. The weather office also added that heat wave to severe heat wave conditions is likely to continue over East India and central India during next 3 days and abate thereafter. Meanwhile, Cyclone Biparjoy which made a landfall in Gujarat’s coastal areas has also weakened into a deep depression and is also expected to weaken further into depression in the next 12 hours, it said.

Speaking of the monsoon in India, IMD has said that conditions are becoming favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon over some more parts of south Peninsular & East India and adjoining areas during 18-21 June.

The IMD official said the steady onset of the southwest-westerly winds will bring rain to the Konkan coast. “They will help in bringing light to moderate rainfall over the Konkan coast. That is the prediction we have given for the next four to 5 days along the coast.

In Rajasthan, it said that light to moderate rainfall at many places with heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls is very likely at isolated places over southwest Rajasthan on 17 June; southeast Rajasthan on 17th and 18 June. Moreover, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is also predicted over east Rajasthan on 19 June.

IMD has also predicted light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning very likely in isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during next 4 days. The weather office has predicted Thundersquall (60-70kmph) and hailstorm at isolated places over Uttarakhand on 18 and 19 June.

IMD has also predicted isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand on 18 and 19 June and in northwest Madhya Pradesh and West Uttar Pradesh on 19 and 20 June. In South India, the weather office has predicted light to moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning over the region during next 4 days.

Heavy rainfall also likely to prevail over Kerala and Tamil Nadu during 18-20 June, over South Interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema on 19 and 20 June. IMD said that warm night conditions likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Vidarbha, East Uttar Pradesh on 16 and 17 June; East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh during 16-18 June.
