Covid-19 New Variant JN.1: 74 new cases and 2 deaths reported in 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, 6403 tests were conducted, 4680 RTPCR tests were conducted and 1723 Rat tests were conducted. The positivity rate in the state is 1.15%.

The Health and Family Welfare Department has shared information that a total of 74 new Covid-19 cases have been detected in the state in the last 24 hours. 44 people have been discharged and currently the number of active cases in the state is 464.

In the last 24 hours, 6403 tests were conducted, 4680 RTPCR tests were conducted and 1723 Rat tests were conducted. The positivity rate in the state is 1.15%. Two patients have died in the last 24 hours. A 51-year-old infected person died in Mysuru.

Out of the total 464 active cases, 423 patients are under home isolation while 41 patients are undergoing treatment in the hospital. Out of the patients receiving treatment in the hospital, 16 patients are in the ICU and 25 patients are in the general ward.

In the last 24 hours, 2 cases were detected in Mysore, 2 in Mandya and 1 in Chamarajanagar. There are a total of 32 active cases in Mysore, 5 in Mandya and 4 in Chamarajanagar.

Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa said that we will release separate guidelines for school children on the advice of the Health Department against the backdrop of the increasing covid-19 cases in state. Speaking to reporters in the city on Thursday, he said, “We will consider the guidelines of the health department.

We are deciding what action to take for school students. On the other hand, he said that he has already discussed this issue with the Chief Minister and has asked him to increase the number of Covid-19 tests.
