The new rule regulates the use of additional SIM. So here are the details of how many SIMs a person can get in one ID Card.

The new rules will come into effect from December 1, 2023. According to this rule, the purchase of SIM card will be subject to a new period across the country. Henceforth unlimited SIM purchase using one ID will be denied. These rules were to come into effect from October 1, 2023. But the Central Government Department of Telecommunication had given additional time of 2 months to the telecom companies.

After the implementation of the new rules, new rules have to be followed regarding the purchase and sale of SIM. Registration has also been made mandatory for SIM sellers.

Total 52 lakh SIM card ban:

Union Minister Ashwin Vaishnaw has already talked about the new rule. The new rule is being implemented mainly to prevent cyber fraud. He said that already around 52 lakh SIMs have been blocked on the basis of complaints of fraudulent calls.

Strict measures are being taken to curb digital fraud cases. As per the new rule, unlimited sale of SIMs has been banned. Also it is not possible to purchase additional SIM cards simultaneously. The government has banned 67,000 dealers who sold unauthorized SIMs.

Registration is mandatory for SIM card sellers:

Biometric verification is now mandatory for SIM sellers to avoid police verification. Also registration is required to sell the SIM. The entire responsibility of the police verification of the seller lies with the respective telecom companies. Rs 10 lakhs Penalty is imposed if SIM card is distributed once beyond the rules. .

New Rules for New SIM Card with Old Number:

If customers want to buy a new SIM on their old mobile number, then they have to follow the new rules. Data is collected by scanning a QR code while acquiring a new SIM.

How many SIM cards can be purchased for one ID proof:

New rules will be implemented regarding the purchase of SIM cards. Earlier, a person could buy any number of SIM by providing any government document. Now the government has implemented new rules for the purchase of SIM.
According to the new rule, a person can purchase SIM using one document. Buying SIM more than this is a crime. Not only that if customers stop using their SIM card. The new rule states that telecom companies can sell that number to another customer only after 90 days.
