New Delhi: India exported a total of 5 billion dollars worth of smartphones during April-October period. It is reported that Apple is likely to overtake South Korea-based Samsung among the export the most smartphones from India. Apple’s smartphone exports are expected to increase by the end of the current financial year. ‘ Financial Express ‘ reported that Apple exported smartphones worth 2.2 billion dollars during April-October, while Samsung exported smartphones worth 2.8 billion dollars .

India exported a total of 5 billion dollars worth of smartphones during April-October period. Compared to the same period last year, the export volume of smartphones has increased by 127 percent this year. Both the companies are manufacturing smartphones in India under the Production Integrated Allowance (PLI) scheme.

Foxconn, Pegatron and Wistron companies are manufacturing Apple smartphones in India. According to the report, Apple’s share of smartphone exports was 10 percent in FY21 and reached 50 percent in FY22. The country’s electronics exports increased from $7.87 billion in April-October of FY21 to $12.14 billion in FY22. Mobile phones account for 30 percent of the total exports.

A doubling of smartphone exports led to an increase in electronics exports. It has also led to competition with China and Vietnam. Pankaj Mohindru, president of ‘India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA)’ said that we have to ensure that the supply chain and investment sentiment are at a high level.
