TRAI has asked telecom companies not to use unregistered mobile numbers for promotion (10 digit mobile numbers). Now TRAI is going to take strict steps for telemarketing companies doing this. Telemarketing companies are given a separate number for promotion. This number would be different from your normal number.

This is done so that mobile users can differentiate between normal numbers and promotional numbers. He can tell the difference between the callers. Many companies are not following this rule and are using the normal 10 digit number. TRAI has now taken strict steps against telemarketing companies who forcefully call or message mobile users.

TRAI has said in its notification that telemarketers should stop using 10 digit numbers for promotional calls or messages within 30 days. If he continues to use the 10 digit number for promotion even after 30 days, strict action will be taken against him.

TRAI has given notice to all telecom companies to close such numbers within 30 days. The numbers of telemarketing companies using normal numbers for promotion will have to be closed. Otherwise action will be taken against them.
