Samsung will launch as many as two foldable phones in the second half of this year

Bengaluru: The Korean news website says Samsung will launch Galaxy Fold 2 and Galaxy Z Flip 5G at an event in August alongside Galaxy Note 20 series. An affordable foldable phone, dubbed as Galaxy Fold Lite, will be released early 2021.

According to reports, Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 will feature a 7.7-inch display when fully opened. The phone will have a 6.23-inch cover display. The display including the cover screen will be bigger than the current model which features a 7.3-inch unfolded display and 4.6-inch cover display.

Reports add Samsung will be implementing ultra-thin glass (UTG) in the Galaxy Fold successor. It may be recalled Galaxy Z Flip also had the UTG for better screen protection. New reports suggest Samsung will not be adding S Pen support in the Galaxy Fold 2 as rumoured earlier.

Galaxy Fold 2 is rumoured to come with a 12-megapixel primary sensor, a 64-megapixel telephoto lens and a 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The phone is likely to be available at a lower launch price than the predecessor. This will be possible with a cost-saving design and 256GB of native storage. Galaxy Fold has 512GB of storage capacity.
