PM should tell nation how Chinese occupied Indian territory: Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday assured her party’s full support to the Indian Army and the government over the situation along the LAC and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to come out and assure the nation on the basis of facts and truth.

In a video message today, Gandhi paid her condolences on the martyrdom of 20 soldiers and asked the PM to come out and tell how China occupied Indian territory and what parts of India had they taken. “For the last one and a half month the Chinese have been intruding upon the Indian Border in Ladakh. Today when there’s so much anger in the country over the martyrdom of our soldiers the PM should come out and tell how the Chinese managed to occupy Indian territory and why our soldiers got killed.

“What is the current situation on the LAC? What is the government strategy and thinking to deal with the situation? Even now Indian Army officers and soldiers are missing and many critically injured. What parts of India have the Chinese occupied? What locations? asked Gandhi.

She assured the nation that the Congress stood behind the Army, soldiers and the government at this time of crisis. “I am confident that in these challenging times the country will unite and face the enemy. I urge the PM to come before the country and assure it based on facts,” she said.
