Launch of E-Passbook facility: Check your passbook online

E-Passbook facility was launched by Union Minister Devusinha Chauhan, now you can check your passbook online.Post Office Small Savings Account customers will be able to access their account information from anywhere and without access to net banking or mobile banking. This is possible due to the introduction of E-Pass Book feature. Union Minister Devusinh Chauhan launched the e-Passbook facility where citizens having accounts under Post Office Savings Bank Schemes can check their passbook online.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasizes that technology should be used to deliver fast and transparent citizen-centric services. In line with this vision, Post Office Savings Bank (POSB) today launched ‘e-passbook facility’ for schemes,” Union Minister of State for Communications Chauhan tweeted.

With the introduction of the facility Post Office Small Savings customers will be able to access account details anytime, anywhere and without the need for Net Banking or Mobile Banking access. Account holders can access e-passbook facility through registered mobile number. The announcement informed that this service will be available free of charge.

POSB schemes are highly digitized so account holders can find their transaction history for any period as per their wish. Earlier transaction history was restricted to mini statement only. Also customers do not have to physically visit the post office if they want. Here’s how to access your passbook online with e-Passbook:

Click on the e-passbook link provided at www.indiapost.gov.in or www.ippbonline.com.

Enter mobile number and CAPTCHA, login, enter OTP and submit

Select e-Passbook

Select scheme type, enter account number, registered mobile number and captcha, continue, enter OTP and verify.

Balance inquiry

Mini statement

Full statement

Depending on the service selected by the customer the balance or mini statement or full statement is displayed. Mini Statement and Full Statement can also be downloaded if required.

If the entered mobile number is not linked with the account, the system will send the appropriate error message. In such cases the account holders are requested to link the mobile number to their accounts by visiting the post office where the account is located.

Facilities available under e-passbook

Fund Check: In this option users can view the balance of all National Savings Scheme accounts.

Mini Statement: Mini statement is available for Postal Savings Account (POSA), Sukanya Samriddhi Account (SSA) and Public Provident Fund Account (PPF) and will be extended to other schemes in a phased manner. The last 10 transactions are displayed and the mini statement can be downloaded in Pdf format.

Full Statement: The full statement will be made available in a phased manner. A customer is able to generate an account statement for a specified date range.
