Kuwait: Kuwait said it will suspend all commercial flights and close its land and sea borders starting from 11 pm on Monday until Jan. 1, the government communications office said in a Twitter post.

On Sunday, the civil aviation authority in Kuwait added the United Kingdom to its high-risk list of countries following the outbreak of a new strain of COVID-19, meaning all flights from it are banned.

On Monday after Oman and Saudi suspended all international passenger flights for a week after the new Covid virus mutant, AI tweeted: “All AI flights to and from Oman will stand suspended after the decision of the Sultanate to close all travel outlets from 01:00 hours on December 22, 2020, for one week.”

Kuwait DGCA said in a circular it is “suspending commercial flights to and from Kuwait international airport from Monday till the end of Friday, January 1, 2021. The decision will be reviewed based on virus status. Cargo aircraft exempted (from this suspension).”

Kuwait joins fellow gulf states like Oman and Saudi Arabia, who also announced the closure of their borders for one week over the new COVID-19 strain.
