India’s tiger population in 2022 is 3167: PM Narendra Modi announced in Mysuru

50 years of Project Tiger: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release the latest tiger census data at a mega event to mark the completion of 50 years of ‘Project Tiger’ in Mysuru on Sunday. He will also release the government’s vision for tiger conservation during ‘Amrit Kaal’, and also launch the International Big Cats Alliance (IBCA). The prime minister has arrived at Bandipur Tiger Reserves. He was seen wearing Khaki pants, a camouflage t-shirt with an adventure gilet sleeveless jacket. He is the first PM to visit Bandipur tiger reserve, which ranks among the top tiger sanctuaries in India. The prime minister also fed elephants at Theppakadu elephant camp.

He will also interact with frontline field staff and Self-Help groups involved in conservation activities. The prime minister will visit the Theppakadu Elephant camp in Mudumalai Tiger Reserve and interact with mahouts and kavadis of the elephant camp. Prime Minister Narendra Modi met The Elephant Whisperers couple, Bomman and Bellie. The short documentary won an Oscar this year. It was a rather proud moment for India after The Elephant Whisperers won big time at the Oscars. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to congratulate Guneet Monga, Kartiki Gonsalves on the big win. The film is a short documentary based on real-life couple, Bomman and Bellie who adopted a baby elephant.

On April 9, PM Narendra Modi visited Theppakadu Elephant Camp and met The Elephant Whisperers couple, Bomman and Bellie. Photos and videos from the same are going viral.
