High Alert declared: Monkeypox infection found two persons in Kerala

Kottayam: Two people who traveled with a person who tested positive for monkeypox have been reportedly monitored in Kottayam district. Anxiety is high among the people of the district. Monkeypox infection found in two persons in Kerala: High Alert declared.

Both the youths had travelled with a Kollam-based man who had tested positive for monkeypox. Both are currently asymptomatic and there is no need to panic. Health Minister Veena George said that high alert has been declared in the districts in this regards.

People from Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanantitta, Alappuzha and Kottayam districts are connected by air. Segregation will be established in all districts. Special facilities will also be provided in medical colleges. Health Minister said that there is no need to worry.

The patient arrived on a Sharjah-Thiruvananthapuram Indigo flight at 5pm UAE time on the 12th. Passengers traveling on this flight are required to self-monitor. 16 people who came in contact with the patient and those who handled the patient’s belongings are being monitored.
