Gujarat under lockdown as coronavirus cases surge to 14

Gandhinagar: As the number of Covid positive cases go up to 14 in Gujarat, the state government has decided to shut down the non-essential business in four major cities till March 25.

Barring shops dealing in medicines, vegetable, grocery and other essentials all shops and malls shall remain shut across Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara and Surat till March 25 while the government offices, boards, corporations and local bodies shall work on fifty percent strength on rotational basis till March 29. The state government is also getting isolation wards across four major cities. While the Ahmedabad facility will have 1200 beds, that in Surat will have 500 and Vadodara and rajkot will have 250 beds each. The decisions were taken in the high level core committee meeting of the state government that was attended by the Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel.
