Fear of soil collapse: Prohibition of heavy vehicle traffic in Agumbe Ghat

Udupi: Udupi district collector G Jagdish has ordered the suspension of heavy-flow traffic for nearly four months on the fear of falling mud on the banks of the Agumbe Ghat road.

Agumbe Ghat, which connects Shivamogga-Udupi and Chikkamagaluru-Udupi districts, is receiving heavy rainfall. Against this backdrop, the soil is loosened and is in danger of collapse. In this context, vehicles heavier than 12 tonnes have been banned until October 15

Vehicles can be reached Shivamogga District via Brahmavara-Hulikal Ghat and also can use Karkala’s SK Border to reach Shivamogga and Chikkamagaluru.
