Delhi International Airport announces Terminal-2 to reopen from 22 July

New Delhi: Delhi Airport’s Terminal 2 could soon resume operations. While Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) did not give a date, India’s biggest airline IndiGo said T2 will resume operations from next Thursday (July 22). “Flight numbers 6E 2000 – 6E 2999 will arrive and depart from Terminal 2, Delhi, starting July 22, 2021.

Please check your flight number and terminal before leaving for the airport for a hassle-free journey,” IndiGo website says. On their part, DIAL officials did not give a date to T2 resumption of operations but said the same could happen within this month. “We were handling a peak 1.2 lakh passengers daily (domestic and International, arrivals and departures) this February which was the highest since Covid outbreak last March-end.

During the second wave, this number crashed to 30,000 and post the second wave we are currently at about 60,000 passengers daily,” said the official. DIAL had suspended operations at T2 from May 18, 2021, and IGIA’s T3 alone was being used for by all international and domestic passengers, like April-September 2020. Now with the second wave waning, although fears of third one lurking, traveller numbers have started to pick up.
