Akshay Kumar pledges Rs. 25 crore to PM-CARES FUND

DELHI: Actor Akshay Kumar announced a donation of Rs. 25 crore to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s PM-CARES Fund on Saturday.
“This is that time when all that matters is the lives of our people. And we need to do anything and everything it takes. I pledge to contribute ₹25 crores from my savings to Narendra Modi ji’s PM-CARES Fund. Let’s save lives, Jaan hai toh jahaan hai,” the actor tweeted.
Modi announced the creation of the fund earlier to help mitigate the effects of Coronavirus.
“People from all walks of life expressed their desire to donate to India’s war against COVID-19. Respecting that spirit, the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund has been constituted. This will go a long way in creating a healthier India,” the PM tweeted.
Kumar has been vocal in his support for the nation-wide lockdown, urging people to stay home and help contain the spread of corona. Like several Bollywood stars, he was seen participating in the janata curfew earlier this month, to appreciate the work of health practitioners and others who have provided essential services in these trying times.
