200 Babies Born to Covid-19 Positive Women in Bengaluru, All Test Negative

Bengaluru: Bengaluru has been in the news for the wrong reasons of late but a cheerful piece of news comes from the city where one of the hospitals celebrated the 200th delivery of a healthy baby from COVID-19 positive mothers.

What’s astonishing yet comforting is that all of these babies have been tested negative for the virus despite being born from positive mothers. The hospital from which this news has come is none other than the Victoria and Vani Vilas Hospital.

“This is the only COVID-19 facility for pregnant women. We have so far delivered 200 babies. This is a milestone for us. In the midst of this pandemic, I can understand the turmoil pregnant women go through. I would like to thank my staff,” DR CR Jayanti, the Director and Dean of the hospital, was quoted as saying by NDTV.

Dr. Jayanti gave all the credit to the doctors who delivered the babies while wearing PPE kits which, as per her, is ‘no mean feat’. “We wish all the babies a safe and successful future,” she added. Dr K Sudhakar, Karnataka’s Medical Education Minister, was also full of praise for the hospital’s medical staff for doing such a commendable job.

“I acknowledge the OB/GYN doctors. I have always told them to be more confident, committed and passionate. Private hospital doctors were afraid and were turning away patients. In this scenario, our government hospitals stepped up and have done a great human service,” he said.
