The Karnataka government has extended the deadline for Ration Card e-KYC verification until October 20, following complaints from people across the state that technical issues with the server were preventing them from completing the process. Ration Card e-KYC Extended till October 20 and Shops to Operate from 7 AM to 8 PM from October 1.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Rizwan Arshad announced the extension, stating that the decision was taken to ensure the food security rights of poor families, daily wage workers, and the general public, while also addressing issues in the e-KYC system.
The minister said the government cannot allow daily wage labourers, who work during daytime hours, to lose an entire day’s earnings just to collect their ration. To make the process more convenient for beneficiaries, all fair price shops (ration shops) across Karnataka have been instructed to follow revised working hours from October 1.
As per the new schedule, ration shops must remain open from:
7:00 AM to 12:00 PM
4:00 PM to 8:00 PM
The government has warned that strict disciplinary action will be taken against fair price shop owners who fail to follow the prescribed timings and cause inconvenience to the public. Rizwan Arshad further stated that extending the e-KYC deadline and revising ration shop timings are aimed at ensuring that eligible beneficiaries can access ration services without difficulties.
