Pro-Kannada organizations, led by activist Vatal Nagaraj, have called for the bandh to condemn the assault and demand strict action against those responsible. The protest began with an incident in which Marathi miscreants smeared ink on the faces of KSRTC bus conductors and drivers and physically assaulted them.

Pro-Kannada activists have urged the government to take strict action against the culprits and ensure that such incidents do not recur. Transport employees, including KSRTC and BMTC, have expressed support for the bandh. Transport Employees Association President Chandru confirmed his participation in the bandh.

“Last month, a transport worker was attacked. We stand in solidarity with the pro-Kannada activists who condemned the incident.” “KSRTC and BMTC workers fully support the Karnataka bandh,” he said. However, no official announcement has been made regarding metro services on the bandh day.

Commuters are advised to plan accordingly as there is a possibility of transport disruptions across the state. However, the hotel and film industries have only provided moral support. Various labor unions have not yet decided their stance on this call.

The bandh has been called to condemn the oppression of Kannadigas in Belgaum and the attack on a government bus conductor for not speaking Marathi. He demanded a ban on the Marathi Unification Committee in Karnataka and called for a ban on Shiv Sena members from entering the state. The bandh will be in effect from 6 am to 6 pm on Saturday.
