Bagalkot: A district court on Tuesday granted bail to North Karnataka folk singer and YouTube personality ‘Music Mylari’, who was arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl.
The bail petition filed by the accused was heard by District Judge Preeti Sagar Joshi, who allowed the plea subject to strict conditions. The court directed the accused to execute a surety bond of ₹1 lakh and warned him against influencing prosecution witnesses or committing a similar offence in the future.
With the order, Mylari, who had been in judicial custody since December 17, is set to be released from jail.
The singer was arrested by Mahalingpur police following allegations that he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old girl after an orchestra programme. The case was registered under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to the complaint, the incident took place on October 24 in a village in Belagavi district, where an orchestra event had been organised in connection with a Hanuman temple festival. Music Mylari had reportedly been invited to perform at the programme.
Police alleged that the minor girl, a native of Belagavi, had participated in the same event as a dancer. After the programme concluded, she was allegedly taken to a lodge where the assault took place. It has also been alleged that a video of the act was recorded.
In total, six individuals, including Mylari, have been named in the POCSO case. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have stated that further legal proceedings will continue as per due process.
The case has drawn considerable public attention in North Karnataka, given the accused’s popularity as a folk performer and online content creator.
