McDonald’s to hire 5000 staffs in India

New Delhi: McDonald’s opened its largest restaurant in India in Guwahati on Monday. It is spread over 6,700 sqft and has a seating capacity of 220 people at a time.While the news of job cuts and layoffs is being heard everywhere , McDonald’s is thinking of hiring about 5,000 staff in India. The number of stores will be doubled in the next three years in North and East India . Along with this, around 300 stores will start in this sector. Rajiv Ranjan, Managing Director of North and East India Zone, said that about 5,000 people are being considered for recruitment.

The restaurant was launched as part of the company’s store expansion plan in the country. Rajeev Ranjan said that the company is on a rapid growth path and is looking forward to expand its operations in the states.

He said, ‘We are aiming to overcome all the problems and grow the industry.’ This is how he answered a question regarding the legal conflict with McDonald’s former partners. The company currently has 156 restaurants in North and East India. Our priority is to double this in the next three years. Ranj said that the number of employees will also be doubled.

Guwahati is the capital of North East India. Hence, this is an important area and opening a restaurant here will complement our expansion plan. He opined that we intend to open many stores in North Eastern states.

It was recently reported that Amazon is planning to lay off 20,000 employees globally. After that, it was reported that Vedantu and Adobe were planning to lay off hundreds of employees. McDonald’s is promising to hire while there are frequent reports of employee layoffs.
