In the last year’s list of 100 highest paid Indian celebs, Hindi films stars, sports persons and South Indian stars made their presence felt. While in Bollywood, it was Akshay Kumar who topped the list thanks to his four releases besides several brand endorsements, amongst the South Indian stars.
It was Thaliava, Superstar Rajinikanth, who topped the list. The list comprised of 9 South Indian stars that also included the likes of Mahesh Babu, Ajith Kumar, Vijay and Dhanush. So, without further ado, take a look at the list of highest paid South Indian celebs of the last year:
Rajinkanth – Rs 100 crore
The global phenomenon that is Rajinikanth continues to shine as arguably the biggest Indian superstar earned a massive Rs 100 crore in 2019 thanks to the mega success of Petta.
Mohanlal – Rs 64.5 crore
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal secured the second spot as he made a whopping Rs 64.5 crore. He had two releases in the blockbuster Lucifer and the underwhelming Ittymaani: Made in China.
Ajith Kumar – Rs 40.5 crore
With the release of Viswasam, Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar delivered one of the biggest blockbusters of Tamil cinema. Viswasam was followed by another big success in Nerkonda Paarvai, a remake of Pink. Ajith made Rs 40.5 crore.
Prabhas – Rs 35 crore
Ever since the release of Baahubali, Prabhas has turned out to be India’s first legit Pan-India star. In 2019, he only had one release in Saaho. He earned Rs 35 crore.
Mahesh Babu – Rs 35 crore
One of the biggest Telugu superstars, Mahesh Babu had one release in Maharshi. He made a big Rs 35 crore, same as Prabhas’ earnings.
Kamal Haasan – Rs 34 crore
Despite no release in the year 2019, Kamal Haasan earned Rs 34 crore thanks to the third season of Bigg Boss Tamil which he hosts.
Mammootty – Rs 33.5 crore
Mammootty, the Malayalam superstar made Rs 33.5 crore thanks to 4 releases like Mamangam, Ganagandharvan, Unda and Madhura Raja.
Dhanush – Rs 31.75 crore
Dhanush earned Rs 31.75 crore and had two releases in Asuran and Enai Noki Paayum Thota.
Vijay – Rs 30 crore
One of the top superstars of Tamil cinema, Vijay made Rs 30 crore in the year 2019. He had only one release in Atlee’s Bigil. Released on Diwali, Bigil turned out to be a record-breaking blockbuster at the box office. Vijay will now be seen in Master.
