As heavy downpours continue to lash in Udupi district, the Udupi districts administration has declared a two-day holiday for all schools ( 1 to 10) for Monday July 11.

Udupi District administration declared holiday for Anganawadi , schools and high schools on July 11. Dakshina Kannada DC also declared holiday for Anganawadi , schools and high schools on July 11. The weather department has issued a red alert and forecast heavy rains in the district, which prompted authorities to take the precautionary step. Due to Karnataka heavy rainfall Connectivity between Shivamogga and Hebri is affected. Officials are informing the commuters to use alternative roads ando travel via Hulikal Ghat. Huge piles of mud and trees have collapsed due to the landslide.

Heavy Rains pouring in coastal Karnataka from last one week. Indian metrological Department issued red alert for coastal districts Udupi, Dakshina kannada and Uttara kannada for next 3 days. Yellow Red alert has been issued for Saturday and Sunday in Kalaburagi district.

Disposing of the collapse debris has become a major challenge. According to the locals if the rain continues to lash incessantly few more landslides are likely on the ghat section. Due to the landslide, police are stopping the vehicles at the Someshwara check post and Agumbe Ghat checkpoint asking commuters to use alternative roads. Relief measures were in progress since the past four hours when reports late came in.

A holiday has been declared for schools and colleges of Chikkamagaluru, Mudigere, Kalasa, Koppa, NR Pura and Sringeri taluks tomorrow and tomorrow. It has also been advised to be cautious as a precautionary measure.
