SSLC Exam 2024: No Examination duty for High School Teachers

The Karnataka Board of School Examination and Evaluation has decided not to deployed high school teachers as room invigilators of SSLC examination centres. For the first time, the board, which has prepared an outline to implement many measures to prevent cheating in examinations, has decided to hire only primary school teachers as room supervisors.

Till now high school teachers were working as room supervisors in SSLC examinations. A teacher from one school was assigned to another examination centre. Primary school teachers were deployed only when there was a shortage of teachers.

Officials of the School Education and Literacy Department, who investigated the cheating cases in many examination centres in the state, found that high school teachers who worked as room supervisors had helped the students in cheating.

Based on the report given by the officials of the department, the board has come to a decision to employ primary school teachers to prevent cheating in future examinations. Also, a rule has been made not to compulsorily assign other non-teaching staff including SDA, ‘D’ group of a high school to the same examination centers.

Till now, CCTV cameras were installed in examination rooms to prevent cheating. Most of the schools were given the excuse that they were not functioning due to power outages and technical problems.

This led to duplication; the responsibility of keeping the CCTV cameras in good condition should be handled by the respective District Deputy Directors (DDPI), Taluks Field Education Officers (BEOs). Drone surveillance should be kept on every exam center. A rule has been made that from the day the exam starts to the end, it should be rented locally.
