The government has warned that lecturers or staff already working in government and aided colleges conducting classes in private coaching classes and owned Coaching Centre will be an offense and such tutorials will be suspended.

The Department of Technical Education has said that according to Section 35 of the Karnataka Education Act-1983 and Karnataka Tutorial Institutions-2001, in order to operate tutorial institutions related to diploma, engineering and other technical education in the state, they must apply and register.

Registered coaching Centre should have an approved building, classrooms of fixed area, toilet, water facility as per rules. Furniture should be arranged according to maximum 30 students. Each student should have at least 5 to 7 square feet of space.

It is a legal offense for government lecturers or staff to conduct unauthorized coaching Centre including home study CET coaching and have issues related to it. It has been directed to submit an annual report to the department and renew the registration as per the rules.

Also, whoever conducts tutorial classes, or who wishes to conduct them, should appoint expert lecturers, teachers and submit their qualification, experience, remuneration details to the department. Details of tutorial fees received from students should be submitted along with receipts.

Delivery details, other expenses should be submitted to the department in the annual report. It has warned that if the rules are violated, the registration of the organization will be canceled and the tutorial work will be suspended.
