School Holiday: Amid inclement weather, the government is likely to extend the winter vacation for schools in the Kashmir division till March 7. Government ordered to close all schools till March 7.
Education Minister Sakina Itoo said that the government will hold a meeting in this regard tomorrow. Keeping in view the prevailing weather conditions, we are going to hold a meeting tomorrow regarding the extension of winter vacation for schools in Kashmir division,” Itoo said.
The Minister said that the decision will be taken keeping in mind the health and safety of the students 2024 vide Government Order No.521-JK(Edu) dated 06.12.2024 extended to all Government/Private Schools up to Higher Secondary level in Kashmir Division and Winter Zone(s) in Jammu Division till 6th March, 2025.
Schools will now resume on March 7, 2025 instead of March 1, 2025,” read the notification. March 2025 could be one of the hottest months ever recorded, India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe heatwave warning.
Experts urge people to take precautions as the heat wave starts earlier than expected this year and rising temperatures, weather extremes will have a major impact on agriculture, health and daily life. According to IMD officials, temperatures in March were higher than normal in most parts of India.
Reports that the early summer heat is expected to intensify in the second half of March, with temperatures likely to rise above 40°C in some areas.
