The state Congress government has taken an important decision regarding the revision of school textbooks, the state government has decided to drop some chapters from the textbooks revised in the previous BJP government. In a meeting chaired by Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah on Tuesday, it was decided to drop the controversial and objectionable texts from the teaching, examination and evaluation process for this line. CM Siddaramaiah said that he will discuss this issue again in the next cabinet and make an announcement.

The Karnataka government has decided to drop several chapters from school textbooks, including texts by RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, thinker Chakravarti Sulibele and scholar Bannanje Govindacharya.

The Congress had announced in its election manifesto that it would withdraw the contents that the BJP government had revised and added to the textbook. Soon after Siddaramaiah assumed power, many education experts held a meeting and requested to withdraw the textbook.
