Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR) officials on Wednesday made a surprise visit to some private unaided schools in Bengaluru that are conducting classes even during summer vacations in violation of rules in private schools found in Karnataka.

Despite repeated circulars by the Department of School Education and Literacy (DSEL) to reopen schools only after May 28, some private schools have been functioning since April 15. In this regard, the Coordination Committee of Karnataka School and College Parents’ Associations had submitted a complaint to KSCPCR.

Ensure that schools declare summer vacation till May 28. However, some schools continued to violate the department’s rules.

“Despite the DSEL order, many private schools were conducting classes during summer vacation. He said some schools are running classes for underachievers. However, when we inquired with the students, it came to light that the classes are being conducted for the 1st class students, said Naganna Gowda, president of KPCRC.

He said that the children in the class were forcibly attending the classes. This is clearly a violation of children’s rights. He said that he would write to DSEL and recommend that action be taken against such schools.
