Karnataka heavy rainfall, School holiday declared in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada

Heavy rainfall School holiday: Karnataka experience intense rainfall activity for a second successive week, IMD said heavy rainfall continues until Saturday (May 21). Karnataka heavy rainfall, School holiday declared Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.

Deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Rajendra K V declared a holiday to schools on Thursday May 19 in Dakshina Kannada due to incessant rains. The whole district is being battered by heavy downpour due to the low pressure that is developed in Bay of Bengal.

Normal life is thrown out of gear due to the rains that lashed overnight in the district on Wednesday May 18.  Keeping in mind the safety of school children, DC Dr Rajendra K V declared holiday on Thursday to all government, aided, unaided primary and high schools.

“Heavy rains continue here in Dakshina Kannada district. Students in rural areas will find it difficult to go to schools. The holiday was declared for the safety of rural children. Many children in the city areas have already reached school. If they have reached school, status quo can be maintained.” Deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Rajendra K V said media.

In Udupi Brahmavara Tahsildar has announced a school holiday declared for across taluk. Udupi DC has instructed respective schools to take decision as incessant rains are battering coastal districts. Udupi DC Kurma Rao said the decision to grant leave was made to the school board.

Brahmavara tahsildar has announced a holiday to schools in the afternoon due to the heavy rains. It is suggested that the headmaster should also carry out the task of delivering the students home safely.

The Udupi district receives heavy rain throughout the taluk of Kundapur, Byndoor, Brahmavara, Udupi, Kapu, Hebri and Karkala. If the rain continues untill the evening, schools are likely to declare holiday also tomorrow in district.
