Karnataka govt increased 10 percent fees for engineering students

Some essential consumption rates including electricity and water rates have already been increased. People are shocked by this. The CET result was announced by the Karnataka Examinations Authority just yesterday. In the wake of this, the entrance fee for admission under government quota and COMED-K quota seats in private engineering colleges has been increased by 10% with retrospective effect from this year itself.

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) conducts CET for admissions to various undergraduate professional courses in the state, and the Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (COMEDK) entrance exams are for admissions to undergraduate engineering courses at private engineering colleges in the state.

Higher Education Minister Dr. MC Sudhakar has given information about this said that the fee for seats in private schools under government quota of engineering seats has been increased by 10%. But this is not a decision made during the Congress government. It was decided by the previous BJP government. He said that it is being implemented now.

The fee hike is applicable to the students who have been allotted government seats in private engineering colleges. KUPECA representatives have assured that they would voluntarily extend support to the state government to take action against those private engineering colleges that collect an extra fee by any other means.
