Karnataka Class 5, 8, 9 and 11 Board Exam will be held from Monday: High Court

The division bench stayed the order passed by a single member bench of the Karnataka High Court cancelling the board exams of classes 5, 8, 9 of all schools in Karnataka.

School Board Exams: The division bench stayed the order passed by a single member bench of the Karnataka High Court cancelling the board exams of classes 5, 8, 9 of all schools in Karnataka. Also, the High Court has given departmental permission to conduct the board examination for government, aided and unaided school students following the state curriculum.

The Karnataka High Court Division Bench has given permission for the Board Examination of the 5th, 8th, 9th and 11th classes of schools. The division bench stayed the order given by the single member bench of the High Court cancelling the board examination of the schools and allowed the board examination to be held. In this background, the board exams will be held from Monday as scheduled.

From the year 2023-24, the state government had issued an order to conduct the board examination for the students of classes 5, 8, 9 by the Karnataka School Examination and Evaluation Board. Challenging this order of the government, the association of unaided schools had moved the High Court. In this background, the High Court had cancelled the single member bench board examination. Due to this, the government filed an appeal against the order.

In December 2023, the RUPSA organization had moved the court challenging the circulars issued by the state government.  Two Days before the High Court heard the argument and ordered the cancellation of the government circular. Advocate Sudarshan argued for the petitioner.

RUPSA-aided private schools organisation had argued in court that the state government’s order was against the norms of continuous and comprehensive evaluation (CCE). After hearing the arguments, the court ruled in favour of RUPSA.
