Heavy Rainfall: Holiday declared for schools, colleges in Dakshina Kannada on July 26

Heavy Rainfall: Due to high rainfall in the district, and a possibility of high water levels in the rivers and streams, a holiday has been declared in Dakshina Kannada district for schools and colleges on Wednesday, July 26.

The respective deputy commissioners has been declared holiday for Anganwadis, primary and high schools, pre university colleges including government, aided and unaided private schools in district.

The disaster management authority has taken certain precautions as heavy rain has been pounding here during the last 21 hours. Parents are asked to ensure that children do not go to low lying areas, lakes, sea shore and river sides. The fishermen too have been warned against venturing into water. Taluk level officers have been asked to remain at the headquarters compulsorily.

In the wake of heavy rainfall in some parts of the state over the past week, the state government has put four districts Kalaburagi, Bidar, Yadgir and Vijayapura on high alert. The deputy commissioners declared holidays in Kodagu, Belagavi, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Haveri, Hassan, Shivamogga, Udupi, and some taluks in Dakshina Kannada due to the incessant rainfall and flood-like situation.
