The Karnataka State Primary School Teachers Association has presented several important demands before the Seventh Pay Commission such as double the salary of teachers, schools should operate only five days in a week, LKG, UKG should be introduced in all government schools.

The Karnataka State Primary School Teachers Association on Friday submitted a 135-page response to the questionnaires set by the Seventh Pay Commission, raising 25 major demands before the Pay Commission. The commission has put forward many important demands such as double the salary of teachers, schools should function only five days in a week, LKG and UKG should be started in all government schools, and one teacher should be appointed for each class.

The current pay scale of primary school teachers will be doubled from Rs 25,800- Rs 51,400 to An initial separate pay scale of Rs 51,600- Rs 1,02,800. A separate pay scale should be established by doubling the time limit promotion pay scale given to teachers who have completed ten years of service.

It has been requested to double the automatic promotion pay scale given to those who have completed fifteen years of service and to fix a separate pay scale by doubling the salary of graduate teachers. It has been demanded that pay scale should be fixed on seniority; salary advancement should be given every five years, house rent allowance should be increased, uniform salary should be fixed for all primary school teachers, one D group staff should be allotted to each school.
