Election Duty: Don’t depute teachers; Education Department requests BBMP

Election Duty: School teachers will be assigned for election work. The Commissioner of School Education Department has written to the BBMP asking them not to depute their teachers for voter list revision and other work.

The Commissioner has written to the Special Commissioner of BBMP citing the Supreme Court directives that the appointment of teachers is restricted to such work.

“We have fixed 244 working days considering public holidays, Dussehra and summer vacation. 64 days are reserved for conducting extra-curricular activities, examinations and assessment tasks. But deputing them for election-related work will disturb and affect the schedule. The quality of teaching also decreases. Therefore, we request that teachers should not be assigned to such jobs.”
