Karnataka: 60 students test positive for COVID-19 in Chaitanya School

Bengaluru: As many as 60 students from a boarding school in Karnataka’s capital have tested positive for COVID-19. The students of Sri Chaitanya Girls’ Residential School were found to be infected with the virus on Sunday, said J Manjunath, DC Bengaluru Urban District.

Of the 60 students who have tested positive, two are symptomatic while the remaining 58 students have no symptoms. The asymptomatic students are under quarantine in the isolation facility in the school campus.

Samples of more than 480 students were tested for COVID-19. The COVID-19 tests were conducted after one of the students, said to be from Ballari, developed symptoms.

Of the infected students, 14 belong to Tamil Nadu while the rest 46 are from different parts of Karnataka. The students are studying in class 11th and 12th. There were 57 staff, including 22 teachers, in the school and all were vaccinated.
