Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said the issue of ‘dummy schools’ cannot be ignored and it is time for a serious discussion about it. “Students have the option of appearing for the engineering entrance exam JEE twice a year (10th and 12th board exams).

They can choose the best score … but it is completely optional, there is no compulsion.”Students are often stressed because they feel that a year has passed, their chance is lost or they could have done better… The option is being introduced to reduce the stress caused by the fear of a single chance,” said Pradhan.

“If any student feels that he is fully prepared and satisfied with the score in the first set of exams, he can choose not to appear for further exams. Nothing is mandatory,” he said. The move is in line with the New Curriculum Framework (NCF) announced by the Ministry of Education, which conducts board exams twice a year to give students ample time and opportunity to maintain good scores.

The Education Minister shared that he has received positive feedback from the students regarding this scheme and efforts are on to implement this system by 2024. I met the students after the New Curriculum Framework (NCF) was announced. He appreciated this and was happy with the idea. We are trying to conduct exams twice a year from 2024,” he said.
