Attendance System: Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa on Tuesday announced that facial recognition system for attendance would be rolled out at government primary and high schools in two months’ time. Attendance System will change in Karnataka primary and high schools.

Interacting with journalists in Bagalkot, the minister also announced that moral science lessons would be introduced at government schools. Madhu pointed out that the chief minister had made a budgetary allocation for setting up facial recognition systems at schools.

Madhu said that the decision to re-introduce moral science lessons in schools had been taken following wide-ranging consultations with stakeholders. The minister said that the government had also conferred with Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti on the issue.

“Children are getting entangled in a number of problems owing to the lack of moral clarity. Instilling humanitarian values among children is the need of the hour,” said Madhu. He added that the department would initiate the process for recruitment of 16,500 teachers once the government finalised the internal reservation.
