Heavy to very heavy rainfall over these places till August 17: IMD Alert

New Delhi: India Meteorological Department has predicted Intense spell over Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar likely to continue till August 15. Current spell of widespread rainfall activity, with isolated heavy to very heavy falls very likely, will continue over the region between August 13 and 14, before reducing.

Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also likely over Assam and Meghalaya today, the weather department predicted on Friday. The weather department said there will be gradual increase in rainfall activity over Northeast Peninsular and adjoining Eastcentral India from August 15.

Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls very likely to continue over East Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during August 13-14 and reduction thereafter, IMD said in its latest prediction. Western Himalayan region is very likely to see scattered to fairly widespread rainfall during next 3-4 days.

There are chances of isolated heavy rainfall over Himachal Pradesh on August 13 and Uttarakhand during August 13-15. On account of likely formation of cyclonic circulation over Westcentral and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal around August 15 and subsequent formation of a low pressure area during next 48 hours, fairly widespread rainfall activity is likely over Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh.
