Covid third wave fear start in Kerala, Reports over 22,000 new cases in 24 hours

Kerala registered a massive surge in coronavirus cases, start covid third wave fear in state ,as the southern state accounted for more than 50% of India’s daily rise in active cases. Of the 43,654 new cases recorded by India on Wednesday, Kerala’s tally stood at 22,129.

The number of active cases in Kerala has now jumped to 1,45,371. In the past 24 hours, 1,79,130 samples were tested, and the test positivity rate (TPR) was found to be 12.35 per cent. Over the last two weekends, Kerala has tested around 3 lakh people.

Malappuram district remains worst affected with a fresh case tally of 4,037, followed by 2,623 in Thrissur, 2,397 in Kozhikode, 2,352 in Ernakulam and 2,115 in Palakkad. As many as 116 health workers have also tested positive in the last 24 hours.

13,415 patients were discharged from hospitals during this period. While 271 Local Self-Governing Bodies remain above the TPR of 15 per cent, 355 LSGDs have TPR between 10 per cent and 15 per cent.
