Karnataka: man killed for having relationship with minority community woman

A 34-year-old Karnataka resident was allegedly killed by the family members of a woman he was in a relationship with. The victim had gone missing on October 21 and was found dead in a farm in Vijayapura.

Ravi Nimbaragai (34) was found dead in a farm in Vijayapura district. After a preliminary investigation, police have found that he was in a relationship with a woman who belonged to a minority community.

Her family was against the interfaith relationship. Police have now arrested two people from the woman’s family and charged them with murder while a few other accused are absconding. Police have arrested the woman’s brother and her uncle, who hail from the same village.

The victim had gone missing on October 21 and later his body was found in a well in a farm. The Vijayapura Police said, “We have picked up two people as of now. The remaining accused are also being traced. The statements of people from both sides of the family are also being recorded.”

The woman had earlier had alerted the police that she suspected her family would harm Ravi and later she had filed a complaint that her family has kidnapped and killed him. The police suspected the victim died of strangulation. The woman has now been put up at a government-run women’s shelter home in the district.
