Fire in footwear factory 2 workers dead, few feared trapped

At least two people were killed as a massive fire broke out in Narela Industrial Area on Tuesday morning. A total of 10 fire tenders have been rushed to the spot. Fire in footwear factory 2 workers dead, few feared trapped.

“Three people have been rescued so far, a few people feared trapped. Rescue operation underway”, said Delhi Fire Service. Delhi Fire Service chief Atul Garg said, “A call regarding fire at a building in Narela Industrial area was received at around 9.35 am following which 10 fire tenders were rushed to the site.”

“So far, three persons have been rescued and two to three people are feared trapped,” said Garg. Confirming the casualties, Delhi police said, “The incident of fire occurred in a footwear factory in Narela Industrial Area.

A few are injured and have been shifted to hospital, all are stable and have minor injuries. Two people died and their identity is being established.” Age of deceased is 30-35 years.

Steel Man of India Jamshed J Irani passes away at 86

Jamshed J Irani, the steel man of India passed away at the age of 85 in Jamshedpur late on Monday night. As the steel icon took his last breaths, he left behind his wife Daisy Irani and his three children Zubin, Niloufer and Tanaaz. Steel Man of India Jamshed J Irani passes away at 86.

Irani was associated with Tata Steel for 43 years. He retired from the board of Tata Steel in June 2011. He will be remembered as a visionary leader who led Tata Steel from the forefront during India’s economic liberalisation in the early 1990s and contributed to the growth and development of the steel industry in India.

Besides Tata Steel and Tata Sons, Irani also served as a Director of several Tata Group companies, including Tata Motors and Tata Teleservices. He was the National President of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for 1992-93.

He was conferred several honors, including his appointment as an International Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 1996 and an Honorary Knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II in 1997 for his contributions to Indo-British Trade and Co-operation.
