Dalit Pregnant woman’s raped in front of children after refused to cut trees

Madhya Pradesh: A shocking case has come to light from Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district where a pregnant woman, belonging to the Dalit community, has alleged that she was sexually assaulted in front of her children after her husband refused to chop some trees at a farm owned by the accused.

The labourer had refused to cut trees at the village muscleman’s farm, saying that he was unwell. Following this, he was allegedly thrashed by the accused as punishment. The accused then went to the labourer’s house and assaulted his pregnant wife According to the police.

Later, the labourer’s wife, their two children and his mother were abducted and tortured for four days. A journalist came to know about the matter and tipped off the local police. Subsequently, the police rescued the Dalit family on Wednesday and dashed them to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Following this, the police registered a case and arrested the prime accused. Efforts are being made to nab his two accomplices, according to a media report. On Thursday, the labourer’s wife made an explosive claim that the prime suspect had raped her in front of her children, but the police did not mention this in the FIR.

The three accused have been booked for causing hurt, kidnapping and obscenity under the Indian Penal Code. Charges under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocity) Act have also been invoked against them.
