The Indian Postal department has announced a temporary suspension of Postal Life Insurance (PLI) and Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI) services at the Bengaluru General Post Office (GPO) and several other post offices in the city from October 22 to October 25, as it upgrades its insurance management system.
To enhance service quality and provide faster, more efficient facilities to policyholders, the Bengaluru GPO is replacing the existing McCamish software with a new Insurance Management Solution (IMS) platform.
The upgraded system is scheduled to become operational from October 26. Due to the migration and technical upgrade, services related to PLI and RPLI, including premium collection, loan repayment, and customer service, will remain unavailable at the Bengaluru GPO and several major post offices across the city during the four-day period.
The temporary suspension will affect post offices located in Arabic College, Banaswadi, Fraser Town, High Court, Kalyan Nagar, Vidhana Soudha, Raj Bhavan, Vasanth Nagar, and several nearby branches.
However, the Department of Posts clarified that customers holding PLI or RPLI policies issued through post offices other than the Bengaluru GPO will not be affected.
Such policyholders can continue to pay their premiums online or visit other designated head post offices in the city to complete their transactions without interruption.
The department has advised policyholders to plan their premium payments accordingly and avoid visiting the affected post offices for PLI and RPLI-related services during the system upgrade period.
