Bengaluru: Karnataka is witnessing sudden changes in weather conditions, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a rain alert for coastal and South Interior Karnataka regions.

Bengaluru is likely to experience a cloudy sky with light drizzle throughout the day, bringing cooler weather to the city. However, rainfall activity is expected to intensify from tomorrow, with several southern districts likely to witness thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds, according to the weather forecast.

Heavy rainfall is likely in Kodagu, Mysuru, and Chamarajanagar districts, where winds may reach speeds of 30 to 40 kmph. Thunderstorms with moderate rainfall are also expected in Hassan, Mandya, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kolar, and Bengaluru Rural districts.

The coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi are also likely to receive light to moderate rainfall. Meanwhile, most parts of North Interior Karnataka, including Bagalkot, Belagavi, Raichur, and Vijayapura, are expected to continue experiencing dry weather conditions with no significant rainfall activity.

Weather experts have advised people to take necessary precautions as sudden gusty winds and lightning activity are likely in several regions. Farmers preparing for seasonal crop harvesting have been advised to remain alert and avoid working in open fields during thunderstorms.

Residents have also been cautioned against taking shelter under trees during lightning activity. People planning outdoor activities over the weekend in southern districts are advised to carry umbrellas and raincoats as a precaution.
