Bengaluru: In one perhaps the first case reported among schools in Bengaluru, seven students and three teachers of Government High School, B Narayanapura, KR Puram, tested positive for Covid-19.
The infected student three boys and four girls are from class 10. They have been admitted to KR Puram government hospital since they are symptomatic. One teacher is also in hospital, while the other two are in home isolation. Education department officials said two teachers showed symptoms and underwent tests. Results, released on February 25, showed they were positive.
The other seven teachers and 160 students of classes 8, 9 and 10 were then tested. The results were delivered on Friday. The school has 213 students in all, but 25 students have not been regular and therefore did not undergo tests. The school is also holding Vidyagama for classes 6 and 7. All classes will be suspended for seven days and the entire campus sanitised.
Parents and other primary contacts have been traced and tested, said a BBMP press release. The school has been declared a containment zone. “We’re unsure where the teachers contracted the virus, but they have been travelling in public buses,” said an education department official.
