Vivo has expanded its Y series in China with the launch of the Vivo Y600i, a smartphone aimed at users who want long battery life along with a sturdy design and practical everyday features.
The biggest talking point is the battery. The Vivo Y600i comes with an 8000mAh battery, making endurance one of the main features of the new phone. It supports 44W wired fast charging and also offers wired reverse charging, allowing the handset to provide power to compatible devices when required.
Vivo has also focused on battery durability. The company says the battery is designed to retain at least 80 percent of its capacity after 1500 charging cycles. Vivo further claims that the phone can support up to 25 hours of short video playback on a single charge.
The display is another major part of the package. The phone features a 6.87 inch LCD panel with a 1592 by 720 pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The higher refresh rate can make scrolling and supported animations appear smoother during regular use.
The screen can reach a peak brightness of 1300 nits, which should help improve visibility in brighter surroundings. Vivo has also included DC dimming and a low blue light feature as part of the display setup.
Performance comes from the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor. The chipset is paired with 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Vivo also offers its Memory Fusion technology, which can use part of the available storage to provide up to 12GB of virtual RAM.
Storage expansion is another useful feature for people who keep large collections of photos, videos and other files. According to the specifications, the Vivo Y600i supports a memory card with capacity of up to 2TB.
Photography on the phone is handled by a 50MP rear camera. For selfies and video calls, Vivo has provided an 8MP front camera. The camera application includes features such as portrait mode, dynamic photos and watermark options.
The design of the Vivo Y600i is focused heavily on durability. The phone carries IP68 and IP69 ratings for protection against dust and water under specified testing conditions. Vivo also says the handset has received SGS Gold Level five star anti drop and anti shock certification.
These durability features could make the phone particularly interesting for users who are concerned about accidental drops and everyday wear. The company has positioned the device as a phone capable of handling demanding daily use rather than focusing only on appearance.
The Vivo Y600i also includes several additional features. A side mounted fingerprint sensor is provided for biometric security, while NFC support allows compatible contactless functions. Pricing places the phone below the premium segment in China. The 6GB RAM and 128GB storage version is priced at 1699 yuan, which is approximately Rs 24,300 based on the supplied conversion. The 6GB RAM and 256GB storage version costs 1999 yuan, equivalent to around Rs 28,500.
Vivo is offering the phone in three colour options called Stardust, Sky Blue and Midnight Black. Sales in China are scheduled to begin on September 30.
The combination of a large battery, 120Hz screen, Snapdragon processor and durability features gives the Vivo Y600i a clear focus on practical everyday use. Instead of concentrating on only one specification, Vivo has combined battery capacity, charging support, storage expansion and protection features in the same device.
