Redmi A2, Redmi A2+ budget smartphones with Android 12 launched

Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ have been launched in the European markets and come with Android 12 (Go Edition) out of the box. Xiaomi has launched the Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+ budget smartphones in European markets. The Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+ get Android 12 (Go Edition), a 5000mAh battery, an 8MP dual camera setup and more. There is no indication for their India launch at the moment. Xiaomi has launched two new budget smartphones called the Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+ in the European markets. The devices have been introduced with Android 12 (Go Edition) and come with a chunky build and vibrant colour options. The Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ have a 6.52-inch LCD display, up to 3GB of RAM, a 5000mAh battery, and an 8MP primary camera. Xiaomi has also equipped the devices with the MediaTek Helio G36 and has chucked the MediaTek Helio A22 found on the previous generation A series smartphones from the Chinese smartphone maker.

Redmi A2, Redmi A2+ prices are yet to be announced

Xiaomi is yet to announce the prices of the Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+ smartphones. The devices are aimed at the budget end of the market. The Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+ will be available in light blue, light green, and black colour options. As of now, the devices will be available in the European markets. There is no indication of its India launch yet.

Redmi A2, Redmi A2+ specifications, features

The Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+ smartphones are budget-oriented smartphones and come with humble hardware features. The devices sport a 6.52-inch LCD display with 720 x 1600 pixel resolution. Under the hood, there is a MediaTek Helio G36 SoC paired with 2GB or 3GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 32GB eMMC 5.1 storage. The Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+ run on Android 12 (Go Edition).

At the back, there is a dual camera setup at the back which consists of an 8MP primary shooter and a QVGA shooter accompanied by an LED flash. For selfies and video chats, there is a 5MP front shooter. Powering the device is a 5,000mAh battery which is charged via an old-school micro-USB connector. Both devices have the following connectivity features – dual-SIM, 4G, 2.4GHz WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, Glonass, and Galileo.

Both the Redmi A2 and the Redmi A2+ smartphones are nearly identical and are offered with a textured back. However, the Redmi A2+ gets the added security of biometric authentication thanks to a fingerprint sensor mounted at the back. The smartphones come in at 164.9 × 76.75 × 9.09mm in dimension and tip the scale at 192 grams.
